t_dsc01668.jpg For a mainly Lambretta orientated company we don't do very well when it comes to staff transport!
A typical day outside MB Developments finds Ian's Gilera runner and Phil's matt black Honda winter motorbike.
t_dsc01804.jpg One for the ladies!!
Newest MB staff member Phil "Slacker" Davies, caught whilst painting the wall in the yard.
Sorry ladies, he's getting married next year.
t_dsc01592.jpg Lawrence Dalton AKA Lozza came up to have some "while you wait" work done as a rush job, this ended up taking a whole day as it was the first day of our year end stock take and it was chaos.
Rather than sit round moping, Loz took a keen interest in all aspects of a days work at MB Developments and ended up taking orders on the phone!
He's assembling some clutch compressors here so if you have a problem with one you can blame him.
t_dsc01595.jpg Here is a side view of Loz serving someone.
He did well, giving out the good advice you'd expect from someone with as much roadgoing scooter experience as he does.
t_dsc01597.jpg Here is Lawrence being presented with his "Customer of the year" award by Debbie.
t_dsc01598.jpg Loz opened his award to see that it was an exclusive MB Developments "Mister Bee" vest.
t_dsc01599.jpg It looks like Loz is overcome with happiness at his gift.
t_dsc01600.jpg We insisted Loz tried on his vest before he left so here he is.
He magically regressed into a small child, preteding to be Mick McManus the wrestler.
He stopped short of trying to wrestle with anyone thank goodness.
t_dsc01594.jpg Debbies oldest daughter, S.B., is often found making fastener kits.
She pretends to hate it but she enjoys it really.
All Mark and Debbies children have ended up with short 2 letter names, it's supposed to be to make it easier to call them but they're all something B.
t_iow02 06.jpg August bank holiday 2002, Team MB hits the Isle of Wight for the scooter rally.
Well, Team MB minus Mark (Canoeing in Scotland) and Ian (down in London helping clear a flat) and Martin (Watching Rotherham play some other obscure football team).
So it was just Debbie and her best mate Bev.
They were meeting up with some friends and customers.
By the end of the weekend they all had serious hangovers and had also been given mock cockney rhyming slang names.
So Debbie is now known as "Raide" - Raid = Raid on Entebbe = Debbie
t_iow02 07.jpg Bev (AKA Rocka Hula - sorry don't know the translation!) catches a few rays on the boat.
t_iow02 10.jpg Raide finds time to get down to the beach.
Mark would have been proud of such perfectly formed sandcastles!
t_iow02 11.jpg Deb also found the time to attempt to bury Bev.
t_iow02 01.jpg Lawrence Dalton AKA Lozza AKA Loz AKA Wizard (Wizard = Wizard of OZ = Loz) with "Raide" and Jeremy "The Pain" Caine AKA Nice boy AKA Builder turned millionaire property developer.
t_iow02 02.jpg Andy Voss with Bev and Steve "Stormin" Foreman.
t_iow02 04.jpg "Macaroni" and "Wizard".
t_iow02 03.jpg "Wizard" demonstrates how can ride with a full face helmet on when he's got a streaming cold - he uses his tongue like a windscreen wiper!
t_iow02 05.jpg Some suspect characters outside the King Ludd pub.
From Left to Right - "Wizard", some dodgy bloke with a dodgier moustache, "Council", Mark "Gilly" Gill (Doncaster Hunters), Wayne "Max" Bygraves (Long time friend and customer of MB), Darrell Milnes (Another long time friend and customer), Glyn Dove (Old MB customer, not heard from him in a while).
We are not sure why Darrell has got his hand in his pocket and is smiling, is it because he's not seen Debbie for so long or is it because him, Max and Gilly have been talking about 1960's dealer specials?
t_iow02 08.jpg "Raide", "Stormin" and "Rocka Hula"!
t_iow02 09.jpg Nice Lucy, Nice Bloke, Mrs B and Wizard.
t_iow02 12.jpg Paul Wood and "Council". Deb said it was a relief to see Woody trying it on with someone other then her!
t_iow02 13.jpg Wizard and Raide.
t_iow02 19.jpg MB Developments are always open to suggestions for new products and try to work with regular customers to test and develop new products.
Here we can see "Stormin" testing out the new MB Developments "Twin tank" beer belly - estimated capacity 10 pints!!
t_iow02 18.jpg When "Council" offered Bev a "quick ride in the car park" she was disappointed to be shown a scooter.
Note the state of the art protective clothing modelled by Bev - Sandals and a boob tube!
MB Developments are currently working with top designers on a range of carbon fibre sandals and gortex waterproof boob tubes!
t_iow02 17.jpg Lozza had heard there were some scooter thieves about and he wasn't taking any chances!
t_iow02 14.jpg Carl Withe can build scooter engines in about an hour but kites take longer!
t_iow02 16.jpg Stormin was pleased to see that his kite could fly.
What is not pictured is the kite stuck in the bush after taking the top of Lozzas' head off!
t_iow02 15.jpg Lozza was delighted that his 6 plate kickstart shaft had lasted the whole weekend!
t_dsc00424.jpg We have been using Titch's Serveta as the MB test bike recently.
It's got Mark's old cylinder and crank that was fitted to his "Shrine" scooter.
5 years later still on the same piston and crank, Titch does over 10,000 miles a year and never has any problems.
This shows that the "Proof is in the pudding" with our products. This pictures shows the scooter kitted out in "mobile dyno" spec testing the new retro exhaust.
Rev counter and GPS reciever proved that the scooter was genuinely pulling 82mph up a long steady hill near the shop.
Mark and Titch were doing so many runs that the police turned and set up a speed trap, lucky Mark had done the last run just when they arrived!!
t_dsc00411.jpg Greg Kinge came to visit us on his way to ride round America on an old Vespa.
We sponsored him and offered to do a touring tune on his scooter so he could do more than 23mph but he wanted to keep it standard!
Here's Mark posing with the scooter.
Was it cold or did Mark not like being pictured with the Vespa -something is making him look grumpy!
t_dsc00412.jpg It just happened that day that we also had visitors from Jungle scooters in Japan who had turned up with Jason from Classically Italian scooter.
A packed shop and that's without our normal customers coming and going and the phone ringing all day!
t_dsc00591.jpg Z.B. (Debbies youngest daughter) comes out of the toilet. Emma (Marks oldest) poses with a paint brush.
t_dsc00592.jpg Luke (Marks youngest) says to his Dad "I daren't move, I think I've followed through and filled my overalls!"
t_dsc00593.jpg Emma says "It's good here isn't it!!"
t_dsc00594.jpg Z.B. painting the back of the stores door.
t_dsc00595.jpg Phew!! All knackered after a few hours of painting. They've got a lot to learn!!
Left to Right - Luke, Debbie, ZB & Emma.
t_dsc00596.jpg Luke, 8, doing a bit of a job on the miller to make something to secure the rear door!
Although Luke often comes into the workshop and loves getting dirty hitting things with a big hammer he isn't showing any signs of following Marks career.
Luke would rather "go to college then earn loads of money"!
t_dsc00597.jpg "OWWWW Dad, I've just burnt my hand!!"
